Taking care of your wooden bowl is pretty easy, it follows two principles:
- Don’t put run it through the dishwasher. Wood readily soaks up hot water and it will likely split after a while.
- Whenever the surface looks dry and water no longer beads up on it apply a coat of a food-safe wood conditioner. I like Howard’s Butcher Block Conditioner. Just squirt some onto the wood, rub it in with your fingers, and wipe off any excess with a paper towel.
What foods can you eat in wooden bowl? Just about anything as long as you clean it soon thereafter. Wood is porous medium so perhaps avoid foods like milk that might go rancid if trapped in the pores.
